Margaret Khamoo - 2000 Recipient
I am delighted to hear that the Zeolite Scholarship Fund is still helping students reach their goals! Thanks to the Zeolite Scholarship Fund and my parents, I was able to graduate from Loyola University with a Bachelors Degree and went on to the Loyola Graduate School to obtain a Masters Degree in Special Education.
I am currently working in the South Barrington School District. Although I'm very happy with all that I've achieved, my plans include a Ph.D. in Child Psychology. Aside from my involvement in the realm of education, I'm also very involved in my Assyrian community. As you may know, Assyrians in Iraq are Christians who are being forced out of their homes, forced to convert to Islam, kidnapped, tortured, and murdered.
These atrocities must stop! In an effort to raise awareness and plead with our government for help, my colleagues and I have established an organization called the Assyrian American National Coalition.
Thank you for the inspiration to help people in need. I too want to change others' lives in a positive way, which is why I am a teacher and why I've helped to aid the suffering people of Iraq for the past few years.
Thanks again for all you have done for me. I promise to return the favor by continuing to help people in need.
